My Blood Approves

My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1)

by Amanda Hocking

“Being liked for the way you looked is worse than not being liked at all.”

“I don't know why you're making the poor girl play with you," Peter said. "You're going to completely slaughter her."
"Well, I am the greatest Guitar Hero player of all time," Jack said.”

"I'm sorry for everything I said to you the other night. I didn't mean any of it. I was just trying to protect you," Jack said, his voice thick. "I wasn't even mad, and I can frogive you of anything. I always would. I love you. More than anything else in this world or the next."
The only thing I could see were his blue eyes. They were the only thing I wanted to see. They never wavered, not even when the chain slid off my wrist and he fell over the cliff.

Double Identity

Double Identity

by Margaret Petterson Haddix

"How do you know so much about trees?" I asked.
"I was a double major in college," Joss says. "Religious studies and biology."

I give her a dubious look and Joss laughs.

"I know," Joss says. "Both of my advisers thought I was absolutely crazy."

Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)

by Cami Garcia and Margaret Syohl

“I never loved you any more than I do, right this second. And I'll never love you any less than I do, right this second.”

“Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead”

“Sixteen Moons, Sixteen Years
Sixteen of your deepest fears
Sixteen times you dreamed my tears
Falling, Falling through the years

Sixteen moons, sixteen years
Sound of thunder in your ears
Sixteen miles before she nears
Sixteen seeks what sixteen fears

Sixteen moons, sixteen years
sixteen times you dreamed my fears
Sixteen will try to Bind the spears
Sixteen screams just one hears

Sixteen moons, sixteen years
The Claiming moon, the hour nears
In these pages Darkness clears
Powers bind what fire sears

Sixteenth moon, Sixteenth year
now has come the day you fear
Claim or be Claimed
Shed blood, Shed tear
Moon or Sun- destroy, revere.”

“Macon Ethan
I lay my head down on his chest and cried because had lived
because he had died
a dry ocean, a desert of emotion
happysad darklight sorrowjoy swept over me, under me
i could hear the sound but i could not understand the words
and then i realized the sound was me, breaking
in one moment i was feeling everything and i was feeling nothing
i was shattered, i was saved, i lost everything, i was given everything else
something in me died, something in me was born, i only knew
the girl was gone
whoever i was now, i would never be her again this is the way
the world ends not with a bang but a whimper
claim yourself claim yourself claim yourself claim
gratitude fury love despair hope hate
first green is gold but nothing green can stay
dont
try
nothing
green
can
stay

“Love is the strongest emotion any creature can feel except for hate, but hate can't hurt you. Love, and trust, and friendship, and all the other emotions humans value so much, are the only emotions that can bring pain. Only love can break a heart into so many pieces. ”

“Those who cannot be aggressive are hunted down while they shiver and hide because the night is dark.”

Twilight

Twilight (Twilight, #1)

by Stephanie Meyer

"I decided as long as I'm going to hell, I might as well do it thoroughly."

"Even more, I had never meant to love him. One thing I truly knew - knew it in the pit of my stomach, in the center of my bones, knew it from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, knew it deep in my empty chest - was how love gave someone the power to break you"

"And you're worried, not because you're headed to meet a houseful of vampires, but because you think those vampires won't approve of you, correct?”
“That's right,” I answered immediately, hiding my surprise at his casual use of the word.
He shook his head. “You're incredible."

Wintergirls

Wintergirls

"In the spring of fifth grade, the boob fairy arrived with her wand and smacked Cassie wicked hard."

"Tell me something about her," he says. "Something nice."
"She loved waffles."

"Be careful what you wish for. There's always a catch."

Everlost

Everlost (Skinjacker, #1)

by Neal Sherman

After all, the rules of the living world must have seemed strange when she was very little. Heavy airplanes flew; the sky turned red at sunset; clouds could hold an ocean full of water, then rain it down on the ground below. Absurd!

Out of the crowd a girl stepped forward. She had long blond hair that nearly fell to the floor, wore a tie- dye shirt, and bell- bottoms so big, the cuffs  practically trailed behind her like a bridal train. A 60's hippie girl if there ever was one.
"Don't tell me," said Allie, "your name is Summer, and you want to know if we're groovy."
"My name's Meadow, and I don't say groovy anymore, because I got tired of people making fun of me." she said.

Her grandmother had an old- fashioned typewriter like this one- she still used it. "Words aren't words unless you pound them out." she used to say.

(she is cracking open fortune cookies, and the fortunes always come true in the place she is in)
It was like eating pistachios, and she found herself getting into a rhythm of cracking open one after another... until she reached the fourth one, broke it open, and the fortune said:
Look behind you.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

"Wow." I hadn't thought Dimitri could be any cooler, but I was wrong. "You beat up your dad. I mean, that's really horrible...what happened. But, wow. You really are a god."
He blinked. "What?"
"Uh, nothing."

He watched as I slipped one of the shoes on. "You have a guardian angel."
"I don't believe in angels," I told him. "I believe in what I can do for myself."
"Well then, you have an amazing body." I glanced up at him with a questioning look. "For healing, I mean. I heard about the accident..."

"I had a standing arrangement with God: I'd agree to believe in him—barely—so long as he let me sleep in on Sundays."

{paige's turn}

A few months ago, my brother DJ spent five nights at Mosiac. He had a blast, but my mom was almost in tears every minute.

I am going to Olympic Park in Washington for a full week! (my mom got all weepy the second she found out)

I signed up a while ago, did all the paperwork and paid the money, but I didn't get in. I was so devastated. So I was on the waiting list, meaning if someone's grades dropped or they, misbehaved, I would be next in line to get the spot.
And I got in!

I was jumping up and down and yelling in the hallway after my teacher told me.

So tomorrow morning I have to be at the airport at 5 o' clock in the morning. We're taking the plane to Seattle, Washington. Then we're taking a bus to Olympic National Park.
Right when we get there, we're going on a mile long hike. We have a bunch of chaperones and instructors, so I assume that the first day will be an ice- breaker.
I don't know all the details of every day, but I know that were camping the second night. Like pitch- a tent, sleeping bag on the floor camping. (by the way, it's supposed to rain all week, and we do everything rain or shine)
After an amazing week, I'm coming home on Friday.

It's going to be a fantastic week with friends and nature!

{paige's turn}

I hate the dentist.
When I was younger I had to get two teeth pulled. They had to put me under because I freaked out so much. Just so you know.

I went to the orthodontist yesterday. This is our second one we chose- I didn't want the guy who's Yelp page said he was a total jerk. So I went to the awesomely nice guy instead.

Three of my adult teeth came down the wrong way. They're supposed to come straight down and push the baby teeth out... mine "missed" and are next to and behind the baby teeth.

So I need them yanked. Yay.
Then I need braces to pull the adult teeth into place. But apparently there isn't enough room for them to come down, so I need headgear to pull my molars back to make room.

Headgear.
Headgear!

Thankfully I only need to wear it at night!
But...
I know my mom is going to take tons of pictures.

Life As We Knew It

Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1)

by Susan Beth Pfeffer

I guess I always felt even if the world came to an end, McDonald's would still be open.

We may not have a future, but you can't deny we have a past.

I feel myself shriveling along with my world, getting smaller and harder. I'm turning into a rock, and in some ways that's good, because rocks last forever.
But if this is how I'm going to last forever, then I don't want to.

Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)

By Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Falling.
I was free falling, tumbling through the air.
"Ethan!"
She called to me, and just the sound of her voice made my heart race.
"Help me!"
She was falling, too. I stretched out my arm, trying to catch her. I reached out, but all I caught was air. There was no ground beneath my feet, and I was clawing at mud. We touched fingertips and I saw green sparks in the darkness.
Then she slipped through my fingers, and all I could feel was loss.
Lemons and rosemary. I could smell her even then.
But I couldn't catch her.
And I couldn't live without her.

Sixteen moons, sixteen years
Sixteen of your deepest fears
Sixteen times you dreamed my tears
Falling, falling through the years...

The Hunger Games Series

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

by Suzanne Collins

I'm filled with awe, as I always am, as I watch her transform from a woman who calls me to kill a spider to a woman immune with fear.

It crosses my mind that Cinna's calm and normal demeanor masks a complete madman.

Stupid people are dangerous.

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
a bed of grass, a soft green pillow
lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
and when again they open, the sun will rise.
Hear it's safe, here it's warm
hear the daisies guard you from every harm
hear your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
hear is the place where i love you.
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
a clock of leaves, a moonbeam ray
forget your woes and let your troubles lay
and when again it's morning, they'll wash away.
Hear it's safe, hears its' warm
hear the daises guard you from every harm
Hear your dreams are sweet and tomorrow bring them true
hear is the place where I love you.

-(soft song)

{paige's turn}

I never thought that middle school teachers had classroom pets. I never heard about them, or even read about it any animals in middle school. So you can imagine my surprise when I walk into math class and there's a gecko on the desk!

I've only seen lizards on T.V. So when my classmates ran to me in the doorway, screaming about a lizard, I was ecstatic. I haven't had a classroom pet since kindergarten (we had baby chicks- I got to hold them!)

So I went to look at the lizard, and it was the weirdest animal I've ever seen. It was in a tank that had sand, two hollow logs, and a heating lamp above it all.
And a MILLION crickets on the logs- so many that I refused to get within a foot of the tank!

The gecko was deep inside one of the logs, so I only saw it's black and yellow leopard- patterned head with HUGE creepy eyes...

Which looks awesome!

Matched

Matched (Matched, #1)

by Ally Condie

Now that I've found the way to fly, which direction should I go into the night? My wings aren't white or feathered; they're green, made of green silk, which shudders in the wind and bends when I move- first in a circle, then in a line, finally in a shape of my own invention. The black behind me doesn't worry me; neither do the stars ahead.
